Patrick matriculated at Northland Boys’ High School in Durban North in 1986.
He started at the University of Natal in 1987, obtained a Bachelor of Social Science degree and then finished a Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing Management at UNISA in 1991.
While studying for the degree Patrick sold vacuum cleaners in the Kirby organisation and worked as a waiter and managed the restaurant from time to time.
Patrick also started a company called CAP Clean specializing in carpet and window cleaning while still at University. He eventually sold this business.
He then joined Christie’s Airconditioning after finishing University working in Sales and handling many of the bigger accounts.
Always interested in the property market Patrick initiated Leading Edge Properties in 1993 and remained chairman for the entire 14 years it operated. This was a property syndicate comprising of +-15 shareholders, buying and selling properties.
He joined Liberty Life at the beginning of 1995 and married Eveleigh at the end of that year. While being one of the top financial advisers Patrick also studied further achieving the ILPA qualification which is now known as the Certified Financial Planner.
After feeling compromised in his advice to his clients Patrick left Liberty in 2002 and started his own company called Redwood Unlimited Financial Services. He has recently sold all his shares in the company and started a career in speaking and teaching having spoken at various functions and conferences for the likes of Health & Racquet, KwikopySA, Sage and Boys’ Town while in his career with Liberty and to Hirsch, The Multiple Sclerosis Society and Seeff westville as a Professional Speaker..
Because of his interest in property, Patrick has been chairman on many of the Body Corporates and was a member on the Board of Directors at the prestigious Mount Edgecombe Country Club Golf Estate.
Even though he has achieved in the corporate world he says the following is the “really good stuff”. He maintains his greatest successes are his marriage to his wife, Eveleigh which he truly values and the finding of himself, who he truly is at the core and what his passion is. This has required him to completely burn out and fall over health-wise which he sees as an absolute gift and blessing. His other passions are golf, playing the guitar and being in the sea.
